Italian Football Rocked by Racism again!!!
Italian football was last night rocked by Racism when AC Milan's Guinean player, Kevin Constant, walked off the pitch over claims of racial abuse. This happened during a pre-season match against newly-promoted side Sassuolo. The player kicked the ball into the crowd in anger and subsequently walked off to the locker room citing racial remarks from a section of the crowd.
This is the second time in 2013 that a Milan player left the pitch of play in protest over racial abuse. First was Ghanaian Kevin Prince-Boateng who suffered similar humiliation in a friendly match against Pro Pratia in January. He similarly stopped play, kicked the ball into the crowd and left the pitch of play to be joined by the other players in solidarity.
Racism is one sad aspect of football in Italy as even Balotelli, who is Italian, is often subjected to monkey chants playing for either club or country. It would be interesting to hear what Sepp Blatter has to say about this latest one. About time a club is made the scape goat and ordered to play the entire season in empty stands if they can't control their fans.
