Time to let Gareth Bale leave.
The latest news on the Gareth Bale transfer saga is that Real Madrid have officially tabled a bid in the region of a hundred million Euro(100m) as well as throwing in Spanish U21 star Alvaro Morata. That would easily beat the world transfer record fee of £80m paid by same Real Madrid for Christiano Ronaldo in 2009. This has no doubt being the most talked about transfer of the season but it's dragging on for too long.
While Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has proved how invaluable the player means to his team by turning down previous bids and insisting he is not for sale, he'd be mad to reject this present offer on a player he bought for just
£5m six year ago.....well, plus other add-ons.
Levy has also proved himself as an astute businessman from previous transfers involving the likes of Berbetov, Modric and the same Gareth Bale. When he bought Bale in 2007, there were few add-ons which which included Southampton getting a cut of around 20% on any sell-on. Sadly for Southampton, they traded their stake in the player the following year for just £2m when they needed cash. That £2m paid by Levi in 2008 to Southampton is now worth more than £20m. In the light of his precedence in the transfer market over the years, no one doubts Levi's abilities but he appears to be pushing his luck too far this time around.
With the monumental fortune Spurs are bound to reap from the sale of this player, there is no sense in holding on to him or holding out for more money having noticed how much he is coveted by Real.
Spurs insists that they want him for at least another year before considering selling but what happens if he fails to replicate the form of last season, either due to pressure or injury? One fact is Bale's valuation will never go beyond what it is at the moment (if not over-valued in the first place). This is the right time to cash in as there aren't too many club willing or able to pay such a ridiculous amount of money on a single player. Even the outrageously and more talented Neymar was bought for far less. With Spurs' record fee of £17m paid for Paulinho and the impending coming of £30m rated Soldado, there will still be more than £40m left for Spurs to play around with..... Factor in the future value of the highly-rated Morata, and Spurs are sure in dreamland.
Looking closely at the player one begins to wonder why Real are so willing to break a neck for his signature. This was a player who almost never made it when he joined Spurs. In his first 20 matches with the club, the club never won a game. Even when the team were 2 or 3 goals up in a match and Gareth Bale was introduced, the team either ended up losing the match or at best drew. He was seen as a jinxed man and fans hardly took to him until the massive turn-around in his career in the last three seasons. While he may not possess the dribbling skills of Ronaldo or the magic of Messi, he however makes up for these with his large heart, great shooting ability and above all, an engine of a machine...He can run all day and at frightening speed too. How well he fits in among the Real Madrid 's 'galaxy of stars' if he finally joins, is another thing. No doubt, he's had his head turned by the interest from Real madrid (who wouldn;t) and he's ready to leave and try his skills against some of the the best players in the world in the Spanish Liga.
