Blessing Okagbare breaks African 100m Record

Nigeria's Blessing Okagbare twice broke the African 100m record on Saturday at the 2013 Diamond  League. She returned a time of 10.79s to erase the 10.86s she had earlier set in one of the Heats. The previous record of 10.90s was held by Nigeria's Gloria Alozie set in 1999. Blessing's previous best had been 10.92s although she once recorded a wind-aided 10.75s in Oregon earlier in the year.

Her steady progression is no surprise really, as she's been one of the most consistent performer in the athletic circuit. No doubt this is good news for the hardworking and multi-talented athlete (she has also recorded a couple of over 7m jumps in the high Jump) seeing as the World Championship is around the corner. Talk about peaking at the right time?
